Foster Dogs are Beautiful

Adopting a rescue dog is a very rewarding experience. It's unfair to assume that just because a dog has been relinquished by it's owner or was picked up as a stray, it is a "bad" dog.

Our rescue group acts as back up for the shelters. Dogs who aren't adopted out of the shelters within a reasonable time frame end up in the rescue program.

The dogs in the Montana GSP rescue program have been thoroughly evaluated by long-time breeder and trainer Nancy Lane. They reside at her home in Glendive or in carefully screened foster homes until forever homes can be found for them.

For more information on adopting or releasing a pointing dog, please contact Nancy Lane at (406) 486-5445 or visit her website.

The following dogs are available for adoption:

.

Heather

Heather is a special needs dog. She entered rescue in August, 2006. Heather and her companion dog, a pug, were dumped on a back road to Kalispell. The people who dumped the dogs were seen doing so. Due to hip issues, Heather was found dragging her back legs in an attempt to keep up with her companion. Both dogs were frantically searching for their "family" who never returned and did not respond to lost and found ads.

Update - Heather is doing quite well. Her hip problems are not as bad as first thought. She has a scar on her hip indicating a surgical repair, perhaps from an accident. She is a 4 to 6-year-old spayed female, a blue Weimeraner. She would do best as an only dog or with small dogs. She should do well with minimal medication and an easy life.

Heather comes when called and knows basic commands. She is crate trained and has good house manners. She bonds quickly and will do best in a home environment as soon as possible.

Heather is being fostered by Nancy Lane in Glendive. Contact her at 406-486-5445

Ramos is being fostered by Nancy Lane in Glendive. Please contact her at 406-486-5445 for more information.

Gus

Gus is a 5-year-old neutered male.

Gus entered rescue on March 28, 2004 as an owner turn in. He was originally adopted out of the Hamilton, MT, shelter in January, 2004. He was returned as his new owner was not familiar with GSPs and their needs. Gus had developed some separation anxiety. However, Nancy Lane has been working her magic with him and he can now be crated without a problem. He will climb out of a chain link kennel or over a chain link fence. He can be contained in a fully enclosed kennel. He comes when called.

Gus is receiving formal obedience training. He is very smart, picks up commands and concepts easily and is eager to please. He is affectionate and loving. He has a strong point and is very birdy. We believe he will make an outstanding hunting companion.

Gus is house broken and loves to sleep in bed with his owner. Gus gets along well with other dogs and loves to go for car rides. He does point cats.

Gus is being fostered by Nancy Lane in Glendive. Please contact her at 406-486-5445.
