“I would encourage any one considering adopting a rescue/older dog to go ahead and pursue these thoughts. Our first adoptee was one of Nancy’s retired show dogs. Dancer fit into our family immediately and quickly became our couch potato/bed dog. He is a companion who wants nothing more than to just be loved. Last summer, we drove to Nancy’s to look at some of her GSP’s who needed “rescuing”. We drove home with Boone, an older GSP who needed some TLC and a stable family. We only had him a short time before we had to let him go to the Rainbow Bridge, but in that short time, he gave us more love than we ever expected. He was truly a friend. Well, to keep it short, we missed having a Shorthair around, so we drove to Nancy’s again. We fell in love with a petite girl who had just come from a shelter in SD. She had been a kennel dog all her life, but wow, does she know how to love. Not knowing what to expect from her, we watched her carefully. After two weeks of being out on long line when we went hiking, we let her loose to run. She comes back when called; she immediately responds to whistle commands; and she is beauty watch run and quarter.
So I guess what I am trying to say is that Nancy has lot of wonderful dogs and an older/rescue dog is an inspiring investment. Nancy is so good with helping match a dog to your family. When you visit the kennels, you can meet the dogs and spend time getting to know them. Give a rescue a try and find the love that they give.”
